Entertainment News: Oprah Donates $365,000 to Atlanta School

The name "Ron Clark Academy" in the intercity of Atlanta may not ring a bell, but there's a good chance you'd recognize some of the 6th and 7th grade students who attend the school. It was kids from the Ron Clark Academy (RCA) whose video of them singing the parody, "Vote However You Like" became a Youtube sensation before this past election. The students' funny performance and inspiring stories also brought them a visit from T.I. who sings the original song, "Whatever You Like," and the honor of being titled "ABC Person of the Week" by ABC World News Tonight.
As of this week, the students of RCA have received another exciting opportunity in the form of a $365,000 donation from Oprah Winfrey. Ron Clark, founder of the unconventional private school, puts the fun back in learning, and has helped students in one of the poorest parts of Atlanta reach goals they never thought they'd be able to accomplish. Clark was originally able to open the school with money he made from his book about teaching, "The Esstential 55," but is in constant need of donations such as Winfrey's in order to ensure the school for children from low-income-families remains open and functioning at its best.
