Janet Jackson Takes BET stage

Janet Jackson took the stage at the 2009 BET Awards on Sunday to speak on behalf of the Jackson family after her brother, the incomparable Michael Jackson, died suddenly on Thursday June 25th in his home. Joe Jackson, father of the Jackson clan, also made a appearance front row at the awards.

Host Jamie Fox, who paid tribute to Michael throughout the evening with impromptu Michael-esq moves and wardrobe, escorted Janet to the microphone where she said an emotional thank you to fans for their support. Check out the video.

The entire show paid homage to the greatest entertainer that ever lived with performances from New Edition including Bobby Brown who opened the show with a J5 medley, singer/songwriter Ne-Yo who sang his rendition of Lady in My Life, and Ciara sang Heal the World. Jay-Z took the stage as well as Beyonce, Souljah Boy, Keysha Cole, Wayne, Drake, Monica and Maxwell. Michael made his way into every performance whether it was an outfit, song or just a simple "we love you".

There was an energy throughout the show; a spirit that could only encompass the man himself. Michael paved the way for every artists there. His influence on pop culture and music is undeniable and his legacy will live on forever. Michael said in an interview with Ebony magazine that he wanted to be immortal through his art. Fulfilled. FlairTV gives you another Michael goodie. Rest in Peace sweet Michael!!
